Lester W. Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson received his MD with honors from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1971. He subsequently completed a surgical residency at LSU Department of Surgery and Charity Hospital in 1975. Dr. Johnson is currently Chief of Surgery at LSUHSC-Monroe and Professor of Clinical Surgery at LSUHSC-Shreveport. He is past President of both the Surgical Association of Louisiana and the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He is past Chairman of the Louisiana Emergency Response Network and has served as Chairman of the Committee on Trauma for the State of Louisiana Trauma Taskforce. He is a past Governor-At-Large of the American College of Surgeons and presently serves as the Governor of Louisiana’s Representative on the Medical Advisory Board of the National Delta Regional Authority. Dr. Johnson has served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Louisiana State Medical Society since 2002.
