Featured LSMS Physician Artist Alvaro T. Hunt, MD, of New Orleans, has been a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society since the 1960s. Dr. Hunt has been affiliated with the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office for many years, serving first from 1973-1979 as the coroner's pathologist. From 1980 through 1988, he served as the coroner's pathologist for Jefferson Parish. In 1992, he returned to Orleans Parish, serving as the coroner's pathologist, becoming the chief pathologist in 2002, and assuming the duties as the coroner's representative on the Orleans Parish Criminal Grandy Jury. Dr. Hunt is board certified in Anatomical, Clinical, and Forensic Pathology.
The White Coat, the Symbol of a Physician A White Coat Ceremony takes place in more than 90% of schools of medicine and osteopathy in the United States in addition to ceremonies occurring through out the globe including those occurring in Europe and Israel.   Tulane University School of Medicine held its first White Coat Ceremony in 1995 and has held similar ceremonies annually since that time.
